Halquinol is a commonly used feed additive and belongs to the class of quinoline drugs. It is a non-antibiotic antimicrobial agent synthesized by chlorination of 8-hydroquinoline.Halquinol is a brownish-yellow crystalline powder. Its CAS number is 8067-69-4.
Composition
Halquinol consists mainly of 5,7-dichloro-8-hq (55%-75%), 5-chloro-8-hq (22%-40%) and no more than 4% of 7-chloro-8-hq.
